It’s hard not to note After Earth. It’s the biggest failure of Will Smith’s career, following the mega paycheck and success of MIB3, which actually turned out well given that it didn’t even have a finished script when they started shooting. Movie fanboys were disappointed when Smith chose to return to that franchise over playing Quentin Tarantino’s title character in “Django Unchained“, all because Smith wanted Django to be a more dominant blockbuster-hero character over Dr. Schulz. Man Of Steel Director, Zack Snyder, took to twitter last night and officially unveiled the first image of Jason Mamoa as Aquaman.
Im not sure how I feel about this. It looks good as far as armor goes, but I feel it doesnt scream “Aquaman” or “DC Comics” to me. I feel that if I saw it out of context , I’d think “it’s cool looking”, but I wouldn’t think “Thats definitely Aquaman”.
Regardless, this looks just like you would expect from a Zack Snyder movie, muted colors, sepia tone and all.And it fits with every other image we have seen from the film. Aquaman is expected to show up (maybe as just a cameo) in two “Justice League” centric intro movies, before getting his own solo film.
