IT Sequel In The Works
IT, the most recent theatrical Stephen King adapted movie is set to be a huge hit and already breaking records. It made $51million on Friday alone and is set to break the R-Rated Horror movie record with a projected $85-$100million opening weekend (the previous holder being Paranormal Activity 3 with $52million). The movie was originally set for a $50million opening, so its no surprise that a sequel is on the way. That being said, a sequel was always an option notably because the first film is billed as “Chapter 1”. Also, as those who have read the novel, part of the story takes place when the kids are older. Something that will most likely be the focus of Chapter 2. No official deals have been set in place for anyone to return, with WB so far only hiring co-writer Gary Dauberman to start work on the sequel. That being said, WB is likely to bring back the kids and use them in flashbacks as they were a huge part of the success of the first film, as well as Director Andy Muschietti who has expressed interest in doing a sequel in the past.
No official release date is set, though THR says WB is pushing for a 2019 release.
